Biography
Diego graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in May 2025 with a BS in Environmental Engineering. At UNR, he worked with Dr. David Hanigan as an undergraduate researcher, studying the quantity of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) produced when treating water with commercially sold water disinfection tablets. Currently, Diego is pursuing an MS in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Within
Dr. Manish Kumar’s lab, Diego is conducting research in collaboration with GivePower to incorporate lime softening as a pretreatment for reverse osmosis water treatment systems used for decentralized applications in sub-Saharan Africa.
