We are the UT Austin Communication and Education Team for the President’s Award for Global Learning: Kenya! About the team
Aarya is a junior majoring in Management Information Systems and Corporate Communications. She is also pursuing a certificate in Ethics and Leadership in Healthcare. Passionate about addressing healthcare disparities, Aarya recognizes the critical role that social determinants play in health outcomes. Her interest in this area led her to focus on this project aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of drinking clean water. Understanding that access to clean water is a fundamental yet often overlooked aspect of healthcare, Aarya is dedicated to educating communities and advocating for solutions that ensure safe and equitable access to this essential resource. In the future, she aspires to work as a healthcare consultant, bridging the gap in healthcare disparities through innovative and informed approaches.
Suhani is a junior majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Informatics with a concentration in Health Informatics. She is also a part of the Polymathic Scholars Honors Program in which she is creating her own field of study focusing on health decision-making behaviors in minority populations. Her past work educating children and adults in Latin America on public health topics has instilled a passion for sustainable development and community empowerment. By creating innovative education campaigns, she aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and resources to encourage healthy water consumption behaviors. Her long-term goal is to be a physician.
Shriya is a junior public health major. Her interests lie in infectious disease studies and microbiology, with a focus on virulent bacterial behavior. In addition, she has a focus in understanding the “who” of population health and the disparities that arise due to one’s demographics.
Kelsey is a senior McCombs student studying Marketing with a minor in Management Information Systems. In her free time, she enjoys capturing memories, experimenting with recipes, and making meaningful connections with her community. Kelsey’s interests span sustainability, music, technology, and wellness.
Her journey is deeply rooted in a passion for promoting learning, unity, and community-building. Looking forward, Kelsey’s vision extends to fostering greater inclusivity and sustainability in the business world and promoting the growth of African talent on a global stage. As a marketing major, her goal is to create groundbreaking spaces for people to enjoy the in-between moments of life, fostering unity and the appreciation of cultural diversity.
Kelsey’s past work in educational equity, entertainment, and program assessment makes her passionate about creating sustainable education campaigns for vulnerable communities. She is committed to encouraging individuals of her generation to invest their skills and resources in a shared mission of building a harmonious and prosperous future.
