Claire Baldus received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in environmental engineering at Marquette University in 2022. At Marquette, Claire worked in the Water Quality Center and focused on the development of an iron-based electrocoagulation-peroxidation treatment for PFAS removal. She also spent time as an intern working at A.O. Smith’s Corporate Technology Center in the Water Treatment department. There she tested various filter materials with different contaminants to report on removal efficiency and performance. Claire is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in environmental engineering at the University of Texas at Austin where she is co-advised by Dr. Manish Kumar and Dr. Charles Werth. She is interested in developing biologically inspired reactors to sustainably extract, concentrate, and recover rare earth elements (REEs) from waste streams. |
