CV

Biography
Harekrushna is a postdoctoral researcher with a diverse background in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry. He obtained his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Ravenshaw University and a PhD in the Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry at IIT Madras. His doctoral research mainly focused on developing short peptide molecules and macrocycle-based ion transporters that could mimic the function of natural membrane proteins.

He has a broad range of research interests including Peptide Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, artificial ion channels, Membranes, ion and mineral separation, Supramolecular Chemistry, and host-guest chemistry. Following his PhD, he has joined Fudan University for his first postdoctoral research with Prof. Jun Li Hou, where he engineered artificial ion channels for potential therapeutic applications. Currently, Harekrushna is working at the interface of Biology and Chemistry and bridging them to membrane science for ion separations. He has also a strong background and expertise in electro driven transport measurements. His current research goal is to develop a sustainable and environmentally friendly ion channel incorporated polymeric membranes for separating critical elements and minerals. He is co-advised by Prof. Manish Kumar and Prof. Nathaniel Lynd.
